Dr. Washington is an  Epidemiologist (MPH), and formally trained Naturopath with a Doctorate in Naturopathy (ND), a PhD in the History of Science, Technology and Medicine (Case Western Reserve University ) and a former NASA engineer (MS Systems & Control Engineering from Case Institute of Technology - Case Western Reserve University).  Her entire 40 year professional career has focused on the body's immune (lymphatic) system and its ability to be resilient in the face of exposures to chronic or infectious disease, chemicals, environmental exposures, surgeries and traumatic injury;  or its function from genetics.
Her training as a Systems & Control  Engineer is critical and uniquely supports her with managing patients' lymphatic systems that has been altered by disease, injury, chemical/radiation exposures or from congenital defects.

Dr. Sylvia was born with a rare form of lymphedema, lymphedema distichiasis.  She has been managing her own lymphedema, daily,  for over 30 years and was  formally diagnosed in 1990 by the world famous, Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio after the birth of her first child.  Over half of her 7 siblings suffer from lymphedema.  She used naturopathic and holistic health techniques to manage her own lymphatic disorders until she finally received  formal medical treatment in 2017.

Services offered at her LEED registered Wellness Center are Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Complete Decongestive Therapy, Lymphatic Energy Drainage (HTCP), Naturopathic Coaching and Counseling.

As a formally trained Prenatal and Postpartum Doula, Dr. Sylvia offers prenatal and postpartum lymphatic therapy for moms experiencing pain, lymphedema, edema and congestion before, during and after childbirth (especially after cesarean surgeries).

Natural Paths for Lymphatic Wellness is located in the Green Buddha Sustainability Center, that is a registered LEED Gold building project.  The historic building was renovated to promote the environmental and public health of both its clients and workers.

A prescription for complete decongestive therapy (CPT 97140)  from an MD, DO, Chiropractor or Podiatrist is strongly required prior to treatment for those with medically diagnosed conditions.  We accept all credit cards and will work with patients who have medical insurance.  Patients should verify that their treatments are covered by insurance for my NPI in advance of care.
