Bonnie Lasinski, MA, PT, is the Clinical Director of Lymphedema Therapy in Woodbury, New York, and Clinical Director of the Boris/Lasinski School that teaches the Casley-Smith Method of Complex Lymphedema Therapy (CLT). She is a 1976 graduate of the Physical Therapy Program at Downstate Medical Center, SUNY, and she received her Masters in Motor Learning from Columbia University in 1981. She was past co-chair of the Long Island Division of the American Cancer Society's Lymphedema Support Group. Ms. Lasinski studied Lymphology and the treatment of lymphedema with Drs. John and Judith Casley-Smith of Adelaide, South Australia in 1992. In 1995, she assisted the Casley-Smiths in teaching their course in Complex Lymphedema Therapy treatment in Adelaide, South Australia, and was certified as an instructor in their method. In June of 1999, Ms. Lasinski participated in a course on lymphedema and its treatment for physicians and therapists given at the Foldi School in Germany. In the fall of 1999, she taught the first University based course for therapists to be certified in Complex Lymphedema Therapy, at the University of Vermont.
For the past twelve years, Ms. Lasinski has dedicated her practice to the evaluation and comprehensive treatment of patients with both primary and secondary lymphedema. She facilitates a support group for persons living with lymphedema. She has presented numerous in-service educational programs for local community hospitals and breast cancer support groups. Ms. Lasinski has presented at the Washington, D.C. Conference of the International Society of Lymphology in September 1993, the National Lymphedema Network Conferences in San Francisco in 1996 and 1998, the American Physical Therapy Assosciation Combined Sections Meeting in February 1998, the National Lymphedema Network Conference in Orlando in September 2000, International Socitey of Lymphology in Genoa in 2001, the National Lymphedema Network Conference in Chicago in 2002, and Reno 2004. She has co-authored three clinical studies on the treatment of lymphedema with Drs. Marvin Boris and Stanley Weindorf, published in Oncology September 1994 and January 1997, and Lymphology March 1998. She contributed case studies published in the Casley-Smith's book entitled Modern Treatment for Lymphedema (1997). She is on the Newsletter editorial committee of the National Lymphedema Network. Ms. Lasinski wrote the chapter on the Lymphatic System for Pathology: Implications for the Physical Therapist published by Saunders in 2003.
Ms. Lasinski is an active member of the International Society of Lymphology, and the Oncology Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. She is a Board Member of the National Lymphedema Network as well as a consultant to their Medical Advisory Committee, and past Vice President of the Lymphology Association of North America. She was named Oyster Bay Town's Woman of Distinction 2001 in healthcare.
